That's the promise. I'm Matthew — cinematographer, photographer, and the eye behind Intense Boudoir. My goal is simple: make anyone, any body, any background, feel like the lead in their own film.

How I got here

Film school first. Graduated valedictorian, but the real education was years of dissecting how mood gets built — Kubrick's lighting in The Shining and 2001: A Space Odyssey, Welles' shadows in Citizen Kane. Lighting and composition aren't decoration; they tell you how to feel before a single word is spoken. At the same time, I was shooting boudoir-style portraits and working in commercial hair and beauty production. Two worlds in parallel that shaped how I see people, faces, and bodies on camera.

The boudoir instinct goes further back — to classical art. Greek and Roman sculpture, paintings that celebrated every shape and body. That's the through-line: any body, captured artistically, can look powerful. That's why I shoot boudoir — to give people the version of themselves they don't always get to see.

My approach: light spaces, not faces

I light the environment so you live inside it. The same toolkit you'd see on a serious production set — cinema-grade fixtures, Rembrandt patterns, intentional shadows, color when the story calls for it. Years in beauty production gave me the detail eye — how fabric sits, how hair falls, how light catches a jawline — but the room itself is where the mood lives.

Consent builds the framework. Before every shoot we talk through your vision, mood boards, boundaries, and comfort levels. First-timers never get rushed — I walk you through posing, check in often, and show previews as we go so your confidence builds in real time. I work collaboratively. The best shots come from both of us — your ideas, your story, your voice in the room.

A 24/7 natural-light space backed by cinema-grade lighting, designed and built with my partner Aeshna — model, collaborator, and the second set of eyes that keeps me honest when I'm too deep in my own head.
